All across Ukraine, churches are being seized, bishops arrested, priests are press-ganged into frontline service in violation of the Geneva Conventions.
Security footage shows members of the Security Services of Ukraine and a cleric of the state church at the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy, 3:00am on October 17, 2024.
While the Cherkasy cathedral was the most widely reported church seizure, due to the sheer scale and violence, these seizures occur all over Ukraine. In the Ivano-Frankivsk province, the authorities have forcibly liquated the entire diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Local sources have catalogued the series of events which led to the seizure of the Diocesan Nativity of Christ Cathedral.
